An Eclectic Design
When Zack and I first met, I had one word in regards to the atmosphere I wanted for my apartment- eclectic. I was nervous about the word since eclectic is an ambiguous construct and can sometimes turn into pastiche, but Zack never treaded towards the latter. I wanted an eclectic atmosphere and to avoid a minimalist and industrial one. I had no furniture but had one rug and numerous works of art for the walls. I tagged various magazine pages with different "styles" while he returned with numerous ideas responding to my tastes. We worked and reworked each other's suggestions, and we collaborated well where one never controlled the other.
This was my first time working with interior design, and the process was not only smooth but also thrilling and challenging. We maintained a constant dialogue throughout the 4 months, and the apartment slowly took shape to what I wanted. Zack manipulated the one dining room/living room into two distinct spaces, and his coup de grace, in my opinion, was the banquette and the dining-room area.
L&Z have a young and sophisticated vibe to them, and they are far from your stuffy interior design firm. I look forward to recommending L&Z to any of my friends.
